Last week, the Buenos Aires City Government opened the First Mobile Green Center to recycle waste materials. It is temporarily located in the corner of Figueroa Alcorta Avenue and Pueyrredón Avenue, but it will be traveling across the city. This recycling mobile unit works Tuesdays to Sundays from 10AM to 8PM. The idea is to install one of these in every neighborhood as a part of a plan to raise awareness on green subjects.
Those who collaborate with the initiative by bringing
their recyclable waste materials will participate in a prize draw for a bicycle.
The objective of the campaign is to make citizens aware of the importance of
refuse collection for recycling. It aims to stimulate a change of habits in
order to reduce the waste levels and to create a cleaner city. All the waste,
except batteries, will be taken to recycling plants or collection centers.
The collected waste will be reintroduced in the
industrial circuit to be used as an input for different companies. The Mobile
Green Center has eight different containers for each type of waste materials
and a capacity of 3.800 liters. It is adapted to offer full accessibility for
everyone and its energetic consumption is based on a set of four solar panels
placed on the roof.
