Saturday December 22nd, one of the most renowned Argentinian female ballet dancers says goodbye. Eleonora Cassano, long-time partenaire of world famous dancer Julio Bocca will present the final show of its farewell tour in the Obelisco, just 5 blocks away from our Hostel Colonial. Cassano chose a classic ballet for this time of the year: “The Nutcracker” (Tchaikovsky), a Christmas classic. The show is free.
Cassano studied in
the Colon Theater ballet school. In 1989, she became the official partenaire of
Julio Bocca and nearly co-founded the Argentinian Ballet. Among her repertoire
are such works as: “Romeo and Juliet”, “Don Quixote”, “Giselle”, “The Swan
Lake”, “Carmen” and “The Nutcracker”, among others. In the last years, she also
tried different dancing styles as music hall and tanztheater (dance theater).
One of her most
famous presentations was along Julio Bocca in December 31st 1999, in
a stage built on the Ushuaia Bay, near the South Pole, to commemorate the Day
of the Millennium. With “The Nutcracker”, Cassano says goodbye to a long career
in the stages around the world. If you’re visiting Buenos Aires for Christmas,
don’t miss this unique chance to enjoy one of our finest dancers.
