Next Sunday October 6th,
our greatest football/soccer match will be played. The most important teams of
Argentina, River Plate and Boca Juniors, will play against each other once
again. This time, the match will be on River Plate Stadium (Núñez neighborhood,
north of Buenos Aires City) at 6.15 PM. 105 years after the first classic match
was played (and won 2-1 by Boca Juniors), both teams will try to get to the top
of the table.
According to the British
newspaper “The Observer”, this match is among the 50 sports shows you should
see before you die. Other British journal “The Sun” said it is: “the most
intense sports experience of the world”. The rivalry between the fans of Boca
and River is expressed during the match in colorful flags, special chants and a
true adrenaline overdose for those who have a seat on this game.
Both teams were born in La Boca
neighborhood, but River Plate soon departed to Palermo, first, and Núñez until
today. For 105 years, these teams have grown a rivalry that defines each other
identity: being a fan of Boca or River is almost like a way of life. These fans
are the ones that make this match a unique spectacle for anyone who experiences
it.
