Buenos aires already has three good ideas for the new icon of the bicententennial that is going to compete with the traditional Obelisk.
An international contest exposed, in the Abasto Shopping, 12 ideas from different architects that let their imagination fly to create the monument that will be placed in the port of the capital, in a huge area owned by the IRSA company, located in the "Puerto Retiro Dock", near the Hostel Colonial.
The 3 winners voted by 12 000 people were presented this October 28th by the president Cristina Kirchner and the leader of the porteño government, Mauricio Macri. The three ideas are: A set of "needles" with leds that move with the wind, a building in the shape of a ship that would have a hotel, a cultural centre and some offices, and the most voted, a sightseer of 200 mts high, that will count with 2 lifts.
Each one of the three projects that were chosen will receive $233.000. The main discussion and theme of the contest was to establish a relation between the city and the "Río de la Plata".
