LA BOMBA DEL TIEMPO: PARTY AND PERCUSSION
A true classic of Porteño nights is “La Bomba del Tiempo” (The Time bomb), a group of drums creating a unique environment and an awesome party every Monday on the Konex Cultural Center (3131 Sarmiento Street). The gathering started 5 years ago as a small show for experts, but today is one of the large-scale interesting Buenos Aires underground parties.
“The rhythmic trance in its purest form”: that’s how specialists define La Bomba. And they’re right. The sound is in the air from the very moment you enter the Konex. Almost as ambient music, the students of the La Bomba percussive school are in charge of the introduction. The scenery is still empty and they are playing among the assistance with a constant, hypnotic sound which confirms you’re in the mood for partying.
Porteños, tourists, curious people, experts, everybody merges in the dance floor when La Bomba steps on stage. Santiago Vázquez is in charge of the direction of this group of virtuoso percussionists who improvise like masters every night. The beat gets into your body and you can’t stop dancing or moving to that musical commandment.
Each concert is unique and unpredictable as it depends on the live interaction of every person involved in the ritual: the musicians, the director, the audience, the place, the acoustics, the instruments, the climate and the specific moment. Each Monday, at 7PM, a show you cannot miss. The cost of the tickets is 30 Argentine pesos (7.5 American dollars).
