RALLY DAKAR 2011 IN ARGENTINA (By Hostel Buenos Aires)
The most important rally in the World will take place in our country once again. The Dakar 2011 will have its symbolic start next Saturday january 1st 2011, in the traditional Obelisco in Downtown Buenos Aires. As in the 2009 and 2010 editions, the most exciting rally-raid chooses South America as a proviledged scenario and Argentina and Chile as its hosts. Just 6 block away from our Hostel Colonial, an event you can’t miss.
This edition estimates the participation of almost 500 machines, including cars, motorcycles, squads and trucks. The official start will be on Sunday January 2nd, in the city of Victoria, Province of Entre Ríos, with a stretch of 788 kilometers towards the Province of Córdoba. Previously, the racers which participate in the symbolic start will have to travel the 377 kilometers to Victoria.
The competitors will race through desets, valley and mountain in each side of the Andes. They will cross the Argentine provinces of: Tucumán, Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, San Juan, Catamarca, Salta and Jujuy; and the Chilean regions of: Calama, San Pedro de Atacama, Copiapó, Antofagasta, Iquique and Arica. The challenge will finish on January 16th, when the racers return to Buenos aires City.
The hopes of our contry are set on the last squad champion (2010 Edition), the Argentine Marcos Patronelli (first Argentine to win in a Dakar discipline). On the Chilean side, the bet is on Francisco López, racing motorcycles with Aprilia and trying to improve its 3rd position on the past edition. A unique adventure and the incredible chance to enjoy it in a city like Buenos Aires.
