BUENOS AIRES GRAFFITIS ON LINE (By Hostel Buenos Aires)
Graffiti was born as an artistic expression in New York, in the 80s, along with the surging hip hop movement. Since that time, it has grown in quality, quantity and geographic extension. In Buenos Aires, graffitis appeared many years ago, in the mid 80. Today, the concept of graffiti is framed in the wider concept of street art and it’s taking a new leap: from the streets of our city to the web in GraffitiMundo (GraffitiWorld, available in English).
This website aims to promote street art and graffiti in Buenos Aires. It tries to capture the most creative ones, the original ones, the concepts, the messages behind the images. A particular set of circumstances have led to a prolific, exciting street art scene developing in Buenos Aires. Over the past decade, a group of artists have dedicated themselves to creating an inspiring movement which brings life to the streets.
In GraffitiMundo you can visit the urban art (Tour section), to dive into the work of specific artists (+ Artists), to shop creative works (in Commissions) where you’ll find an online gallery with the most renowned works of BA artists and to assist a stencil workshop. These workshop lasts 3 hours and are coordinated by the same artists which are nowadays working on the Porteño streets.
If you are coming to Buenis Aires and street art is aming your hobbies or interests, you should visit this website to be aware of what to visit and where. Hostel Colonial congratulates the GraffitiMundo iniciative and supports Buenos Aires graffiti designers. We want a Buenos Aires filled with art for everybody.
