THE MURALS OF PACÍFICO GALLERIES (By Hostel Buenos Aires)
One of the most famous tourist destinies of Buenos Aires city are the Pacífico Galleries. On Florida Street, between Viamonte Street and Córdoba Avenue, this great shopping mall stands out not only by its commercial offer but also for its architectural and pictorial beauty. This gallery is known by its murals, painted as a group by the most renowned Argentine visual artists in the mid of the past century.
Former National Fine Arts Museum (by the end of the XIX Century), its artistic relevance emerged in 1946 when serving like train station for the Buenos Aires to Pacific Railroad. The main mural work of our history was performed by excellent artists of the time such as: Antonio Berni, Juan Carlos Castagnino, Lino Spilimbergo, Manuel Colmeiro y Demetrio Urruchúa.
This wornderful work decorating the top of the Pacífico Galleries will be tributed in an exhibition organized by the Borges Cultural Center (located inside the galleries). This exhibition gathers drafts, preparatory sketches, back up works, structural outlines, photographies and transfer sheets of the works performed by each and every artists in the creation of these mythical Porteño murals.
The exhibition opens from Mondays to Saturdays from 10AM to 9PM and Sundays from 12PM to 9PM. The murals, live, can be enjoyed all the times in Buenos Aires, just 3 blocks away from Hostel Colonial.
