THE BUENOS AIRES PLANETARIUM RENEWED

The Buenos Aires Planetarium “Galileo Galilei” has been fully renewed. Many technological improvements have been made on the main site for astronomy and space lovers in our city. This reopening presents a new stars projector, a full dome immersive video system, the restored internal dome and 4D mobile seats including an interactive participation mode for the audience.

The projector Megastar II A model has a 11° magnitude, showing a million more stars than regular planetariums (a true sky projection revolution). It also allows seeing 140 clusters, nebulas and an amazing view of the Milky Way. Our planetarium is the first in the world to adopt LED lights to project in the dome: it’s a 32 lights instrument which guarantees the maximum visualizing quality.

The new spectacles in the planetarium are astonishing because of the high resolution images of the full video dome system Digital Sky II. The result is a unique immersive surrounding combining color, movement and surprising realism. The free demonstrations opened on December the 16th and will continue until the end of the year.
