Buenos Aires is turning into then new gay capital of Latin American. After the sanction of the Egalitarian Marriage -last year- (which helped the exponential growth of the “pink” tourism, as it’s called), and the proliferation of hotels, bars and special circuits to meet the demand of this kind of tourism, now it’s time for the first gay cruise. “Ego” is its name and will visit Uruguayan cities as Montevideo and Punta del Este.
Five days and four nights will “Ego” sail the waters of the River Plate, between the capitals of Argentina and Uruguay, plus he famous beach of Punta del Este. The ship has a Jacuzzi room, spa and casino, besides seven bars, four restaurants, clothing stores, theater, disco and four swimming pools. Despite many gay cruises have anchored in Buenos Aires, “Ego” will be special for being the first 100% Argentine LGBT cruise
The “Ego” will set sail in the next cruises season (December 12th 2011) and will have 2.200 places. It will offer thematic parties, games, music, international shows and famous DJs. “Ego” will also include the option to get married in a symbolic ceremony in the open sea. Symbolic marriages which might be reaffirmed once the cruise returns to Argentine land.
According to the numbers of the Gay Lesbian Commerce Chamber, of all the tourists that arrived to Argentina in 2010, 18% is LGBT. It is calculated that 9% of all residents in Buenos Aires City are LGBT. That’s the reason why the cruise will have room for Argentine too. The gay friendly culture is placing Buenos Aires in the regional avant-garde of gay tourism. Hostel Colonial is ready to make your stay in our city and unforgettable one.
