FRIDAY & SATURDAY TANGO
Every Friday and Saturday of July, one of the most renowned bands of the underground tango, La Chicana, plays on the Torquato Tasso Cultural Center (1575 Defensa Street). It’s a great opportunity to listen the Porteño rhythm by contemporary artists which are recreating tango. Hostel Colonial tells you where you can enjoy the best music of our city.
The Torquato Tasso Cultural Center, in the traditional neighborhood of San Telmo, has become one of the best clubs to listen to tango music. The place counts on great acoustics and an intimate ambient that tango artist prefer. In the place you can regularly find the best tango musicians such as: Adriana Varela, Leopoldo Federico, Rodolfo Mederos, Susana Rinaldi and the Tango National Team.
Every Friday and Saturday night, during July, the place will be presenting the tango group La Chicana. Formed in 1995, La Chicana began as a trio (Dolores Solá, Acho Estol and Juan Valverde), playing traditional tango and interpreting the lyrics of the first tango, although introducing modern elements from such different influences as rock. They mix rhythms, times and lyrics to achieve a unique sound.
The group has an eclectic style combining elements of the purest tango with their personal influences as rock, Latin rhythms and a personal touch. Several musicians add up on their live shows. La Chicana has definitely found its place in the Torquato Tasso, they play in a familiar place where the audience is part of that large family.
