PHOTO EXHIBITION: BUENOS AIRES KIDS

“The Look of Buenos Aires Kids” is a selection of old photography which depicts the life of Porteño childhood through the last century: their faces, their places, their interests. Until June the 30th you can enjoy this particular exhibition in El Plata Cinema in Mataderos neighborhood (5751 Juan Bautista Alberdi Avenue), Mondays to Fridays from 1PM to 8PM and Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 10AM to 10PM.

The images are part of the Museum of the City patrimony. In the three floors of the old cinema, you can go through a century of history of childhood. There are girls and boys who grew in a time of great changes, moments of tension, violence and pain and, at the same time, of a simple peaceful life in other ways. The way adults saw their children and childhood of their time through pictures.

The different histories of Porteño children are reflected here: those who grew in a privileged position, those who had to work, those who lived in need and those who had to grow too fast. The look is placed in a particular historical moment, when Buenos Aires became a metropolis and everyone had to rearrange its way of living to the new rhythms of progress. Childs were part of this movement too.

If you are curious about our history or just love photography, you should visit this great exhibition.
