CAFFERATA: UM BAIRRO ESPECIAL

Buenos Aires está lotado de pequenos bairros que vivem dentro dos bairros oficiais. São zonas de pertencia ou com características culturais, gastronômicas ou arquitetônicas especiais que os diferenciam. Um deles, muito identificado com o tango e com o espírito de arraial é o Bairro Cafferata, dentro do bairro oficial de Parque Chacabuco. Um destino pouco tradicional para o turismo que vale a pena conhecer.

Perto do grande Parque Chacabuco, que nomeia o bairro e que é uma das maiores áreas verdes da cidade, se encontra o Cafferata. Seu nome se deve ao deputado que criou a lei que promovia a construção de bairros de casas econômicas para obreiros nos anos 20 do século passado. Entre as ruas Asamblea, José Maria Moreno, Estrada e Riglos se encontram estas casas paradas no tempo.


161 vivendas individuais que se terminaram de construir há exatamente 90 anos, em junho de 1921. Casas individuais e casas gêmeas de estilo inglês, que têm sido conservadas e hoje mantêm o espírito único do bairro. Belas construções que tem tomado diferentes formas e cores através dos anos, sem perder seu desenho de base (de dois andares e um pequeno jardim).

Poucos anos depois da construção, Carlos Gardel gravou o tango “Ventanita de arrabal” (Janelinha do arraial), inspirado na mágica do bairro. Um passeio entre as ruas do Cafferata devolve uma paisagem de tranqüilidade típica dos bairros portenhos. Muito perto, o grande Parque Chacabuco é outra boa opção para recorrer. O jeito mais rápido de chegar ao bairro é com o metrô, linha E, estação Emilio Mitre.

VISITING THE PALACE OF JUSTICE

The National Palace of Justice, also known as Palacio de Tribunales, is one of the most beautiful buildings of our city. Now, you can visit this wonderful place thanks to the guided visits organized by the City Government. Until November 30th, a 75 minutes tour will show you a true symbol of Porteño architecture. Hostel Colonial tells you how the tour is and what’s there to see.

The circuit starts in the building’s entrance hall. Then, through the Lost Steps Hall, the Court Hall, the Honor Hall and the office of the Supreme Court President. You will also see pictures, sculptures, historic furniture, marble slabs, busts, flags, files belonging to local celebrities and the halls which expose the fine architecture of the building.

Opened in 1942, after a 40 year delay due to different eventualities, the Palace is a great exponent of the Porteño architecture in the beginnings of the XX Century, European influenced. For the design of some ornaments in the building’s façade, the Milanese architect Virginio Colombo was called. He ended up living in Buenos Aires, where he became one of the most brilliant exponents of the Art Nouveau style.

To take the guided tour, you should go to the Palace of Justice main entrance (550 Talcahuano Street), from Mondays to Fridays at 2.30PM. We recommend you to arrive a little earlier than that so you can take pictures of the front of the building and the place that surrounds it. The three squares complex in front of the Palace and the Colón Theater are some of the main attractions around.

A ARGENTINA LIVRE DE FUMAÇA

Desde o 1 de junho, a Argentina é um país livre de fumaça. Confirmado pela promulgação da lei a semana passada, a Argentina se soma ao grupo de países que tem proibido fumar em lugares públicos e lugares fechados de acesso público (bares, restaurantes, concertos, museus, teatros, entre outros). Uma opção pela vida e pela proteção da saúde dos seus habitantes e de quem nos visita.

As medidas chave de esta nova lei são três: estabelece que os ambientes fechados de acesso público e os lugares laborais têm que ser cento por cento livres de fumaça; obriga incluir advertências sanitárias nos pacotes de cigarros com imagens e textos; e promocional uma linha livre do Ministério de Saúde para ajudar a quem procure deixar de fumar e uma restrição pela publicidade das tabaqueiras.


Leis deste tipo funcionam em 8 países da região (o Brasil fio um dos pioneiros) e desde a sua aplicação tem logrado reduzir consideravelmente a quantidade de infartos e a recorrência de doenças respiratórias, associadas aos fumadores. Uma cidade mais sana e também mais limpa, onde a gente poderá escolher a sua preferência: fumar nas ruas e espaços abertos ou desfrutar do ar limpo em lugares fechados.

Buenos Aires, além disso, reforça a promulgação desta lei com a promoção constante de eventos esportivos (em especial as maratonas, nos últimos anos), em linha com um conceito diferente de cidadão.

VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITION

One of the main local visual arts exhibitions, the Nacional Exhibition Hall 2011, presents the section “New supports and installations”, during this month and the next one. It’s a chance to know the new Argentine artists and the most original expressions of the contemporary arts. Until July 31st, the exhibition gives a glimpse of the new Argentine avant-garde.

Some of the new supports you can see here are: installations in diverse materials, mono channel videos, video-installations, digital animations, among many others. There are unlimited creations that experiments with non traditional objects. The avant-garde and renovation of art in concepts as well as in materials is what you will find here.

The National Exhibition Hall is one of the most relevant institutions for the Argentine visual arts, because of its federal reach and its rich history. It was conceived in 1911 with the idea of promoting the formation of artists and spectators. It quickly became a reference for contemporary arts, a space for artistic success and basic authentication for the local artistic field.

In this edition, the 100th of the Exhibition Hall, the goal is to promote the work of new creators nationwide. The Exhibition Hall is located in the Palais de Glace, on 1725 Posadas Street, in the corner of Del Libertador Avenue. It can be visited Tuesdays to Fridays from 12AM to 8PM and Saturdays and Sundays from 10AM to 8PM, with free admission.

COMEÇA A COPA AMÉRICA

A sexta-feira 1 de julho começa a 43 edição da Copa América na Argentina. As estrelas das seleções de futebol do continente estarão disputando o torneio que finaliza o 24 de julho, no estádio do River Plate, em Buenos Aires. Com sedes em Córdoba, Mendoza, San Juan, Salta, Jujuy, La Plata e nossa cidade de Buenos Aires. A Argentina procura se converter em a seleção que mais vezes ganha o troféu.

O Brasil ganhou a última edição, derrotando à Argentina na final (2009), agora o local procura revanche. Participam 12 paises: Argentina, Bolívia, Brasil, Chile, Colômbia, Equador, Paraguai, Peru, Uruguai, Venezuela, Costa Rica e México. Os dois últimos foram convidados e Costa Rica ocupa o lugar da seleção do Japão, que declinou a sua participação logo do terremoto sofrido há uns meses.

A primeira fase está dividida em 3 grupos de 4 times e se jogará em todas as sedes. Os quartos de final serão 16 e 17 de julho nas sedes de Córdoba, San Juajn, Santa Fé y La Plata. As semifinais, 19 e 20 de julho em La Plata e Mendoza; e a final 24 de julho em Buenos Aires. A Argentina e o Uruguai são quem mais copas ganharam (14). Segue o Brasil (8), o Paraguai (2) e Colômbia e Bolívia (1).

A Argentina não ganha desde o ano 1993 e é um dos favoritos (sendo local nesta edição), junto com Brasil, Uruguai e Paraguai. Procurará se apoiar no invicto de mais de 15 anos que leva no estádio de River Plate, em Buenos Aires. Estarão presentes as maiores estrelas do futebol mundial como Messi, Forlán, Neymar, Robinho e Tevez, entre outros.

TIGRE, A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT

Near Buenos Aires City, 28km heading north, is the town of Tigre. You can get there by two different railroads (a touristic one called Tren de la Costa and the Mitre Line Railroad) or by the Pan-American Route. Close to the delta of the River Plate and the Paraná River, Tigre offers a unique landscape and many touristic sightsees. Hostel Colonial tells you how to get there and how to enjoy a day there.

To get to Tigre, from our Hostel Colonial, the fastest and closest option is the Mitre Line Railroad, from Retiro Station, less than 10 blocks away from here, although the touristic Tren de la Costa probably has the best views of the River Plate coastline. You can get to it by a combination of subway and bus. The good thing is that both railroads have their head stations near the main attractions of Tigre.

One thing you should do in there is to take the boat trip by the Luján River. The boats depart from the Tigre River Port Station in a trip that will show you some of the typical houses and nautical clubs, the islander’s way of life and some historic places where former Argentine Presidents and renowned writers lived. Two great routes you might try are the Lavalle Victoria path (by the Luján River coastline) and the Camino Real Circuit (in 25 de Mayo Street).

To end the day, after these long walks, the ideal place is the Puerto de Frutos. Here, you will find typical local handicrafts (made of wicker). You can also enjoy a great meal on one of the traditional bars and restaurants of this place. The best thing is that the Puerto de Frutos is just a few blocks away from the railroads which will bring you back to the city… and to our Hostel!

CHEGA O INVERNO

Hoje começa o inverno no hemisfério sul. Este época caracterizada por dias com menos luz e temperaturas baixas é ideal para visitar alguns dos muitos atrativos em lugares fechados que oferece a cidade. Pegar um cafezinho em um bar notável, visitar os museus de Recoleta ou ouvir música em algum dos teatros da Avenida Corrientes são opções clássicas. Hostel Colonial te conta como desfrutar este inverno portenho.

Este dia conta apenas com 9 horas e 50 minutos de luz (entre as 8AM e as 5.50PM), mais de agora em diante, os mesmos começam se estender. As temperaturas médias desta época variam entre os 6 e os 15°C, ainda que os dias mais frios podem ter temperaturas debaixo de zero graus. Recomenda-se levar sempre roupa de abrigo e gorro e luvas para o vento frio, típico da cidade no inverno.



As opções de saídas são muitas, mais a estação é ideal para aproveitar os lugares fechados. Muito perto do nosso Hostel, sobre a Avenida Corrientes e na zona do Centro perto da Plaza de Mayo, encontrarás a maioria dos bares notáveis da cidade (Café Tortoni, Confitería La Ideal, La Giralda, La Paz, entre outros). Também sobre a Avenida Corrientes há muitas opções de teatro e espetáculos.

Finalmente, se a sua preferência são os museus, na zona de Recoleta, você poderá visitar dois clássicos das artes plásticas argentinas: o Museu Nacional de Belas Artes e o Museu de Arte Latino-Americano (MALBA). Ali encontrarás obras de artistas reconhecidos a nível mundial como Rembrandt, Van Gogh ou Rodin; e dos maiores expoentes da pintura regional como Matta, Pettoruti, Berni, Xul Solar ou Figari, entre outros. ARGENTINE FLAG DAY

This Monday June 20th, Argentina celebrates the Flag Day holiday. Our flag is a design by General Manuel Belgrano, who played a leading role in the struggle for independence. It was created on February 27th 1812 and nowadays it still preserves its original sky blue and white colors. Nevertheless, its design changed from two to three horizontal stripes, and also added a sun in the middle. Hostel Colonial tells you some of the events you can enjoy.

The main celebration will be in the City of Rosario (320km away from Buenos Aires City) where the Flag Monument is located. It’s a magnificent architectural work which also preserves the remains of the creator of our patriotic symbol. The building was designed by prestigious Argentine architects. It has a large 70 meters tower, crowned by a giant flag. The official ceremony will take place there.

In our city, the football/soccer national team will be playing a last friendly match before the America’s Cup (starting on July 1st). The rival will be the Albanian team and the place, the River Plate Stadium. The team will feature Argentine football stars as: Lionel Messi, Carlos Tévez and Federico Higuain, among others. More than 70 thousand people are expected to celebrate the sky blue and white colors.

Last, but not least, the Public TV channel will present a movie in tribute of Manuel Belgrano, the creator of our flag. Belgrano is a documentary with the story of the creation of our national symbol. Another great place to take pictures is the Avenida de Mayo (6 blocks away from our Hostel) will be decorated with Argentine flags between Plaza de Mayo and the National Congress.

NOVA CASA PARA O MUSEU DO CINEMA

Logo de 40 anos de existência, o Museu do Cinema de Buenos Aires “Pablo Ducrós Hicken” se estabelecerá pronto no seu novo lar: a velha usina do bairro de La Boca. Estima-se que o mês que vem abrirá as portas na nova sede da Rua Caffarena 49, onde estivesse uma usina elétrica da empresa Italo-Argentina. Hostel Colonial te mostra a nova casa do cinema.

O projeto no qual está incluído o museu é o chamado de “Usina da Música”, que procura converter o edifício em uma grande sala de concertos. No anexo principal desse edifício de tijolos vermelhos, se localizará o museu. Uma construção única, do estilo romântico lombardo, que data do ano 1916. A reciclagem do lugar levou mais de 4 anos de trabalho de restauração e recondicionamento, até lograr o resultado desejado.


No primeiro andar, haverá salas de exibição permanente e temporária, um microcinema para 50 pessoas e um centro de documentação (com livraria, videoteca e hemeroteca). No segundo andar se distribuirão os talheres de conservação e o talher de montagem de exibições. Também haverá um departamento de museologia, curadoria e pesquisas, um centro de catalogação, uma ilha de edição e um laboratório de preservação digital.

Entre o que você poderá encontrar no museu, estarão as principais joias da coleção: mais de 65.000 filmes de 16 e 35 milímetros, que incluem obras desde os anos do cinema mudo até a atualidade. Entre elas, se encontrou a famosa copia original do filme “Metrópoles” (do alemão Fritz Lang). Um lugar para os amantes da arte e do cinema em particular que deverias visitar.

LA IDEAL: A CLASSIC CAFE

The coffee house “La Ideal” is one of the most notable cafes of our city and one of the main houses of tango. Opened in 1912, just 2 years after the city celebrated the centenary of its independence, the place worked as tea room. It became famous as the place where women of those days used to gather to chat after its labors.

Close to Corrientes Avenue, on 380 Suipacha Street, La Ideal has become through the years one of the most traditional and visited cafes of Buenos Aires City. During the 70’s and 80’s, it worked as a café concert receiving classic tango and Latin singers of those years (as “Los 5 Latinos” and greatest singers of the last decades). The café is a place which keeps a large part of the history of our city.



It is also a house for tango. Its dance floor receives every week local tango dancers. Many celebrities have tried La Ideal’s dance floor: Maurice Chavalier, Maria Felix, Dolores del Río, Vittorio Gassman and Robert Duvall, among others. The movies “Tango” (by Spanish director Saura) and “Evita” (starred by Madonna) used the place a classic Porteño set. Artists, writers, painters, politicians and musicians of all times have visited La Ideal.

The place preserves icons from its original art deco decoration: the vitreaux and lamps, the old imported wood on the walls and the fabulous marble stairs, along with the famous pergola remind us of the city of Paris, model city for Buenos Aires in the beginnings of the XX Century. The café is a true “Ideal” place to visit if you’re staying in our city, just 4 blocks away from our Hostel Colonial.

SALÃO DO AUTOMÓVEL DE BUENOS AIRES

Desde a sexta-feira próxima, será inaugurada a 5ta. Edição do Salão Internacional do Automóvel. Até 26 deste mês, no prédio de La Rural (Avenida Sarmiento 2704), os melhores carros e protótipos do mundo poderão ser desfrutados em Buenos Aires. Uma superfície coberta que vai superar os 40.000m² de exibição, mais um setor ao ar libre, alojarão às máquinas do futuro.

O Salão do Automóvel reúne onze fábricas de carros radicadas na Argentina, com todas suas marcas, e aos importadores com presencia no país; todos eles apresentando as últimas novidades mundiais. Nas edições anteriores, o Salão tem sido visitado por mais de um milhão de pessoas. Fanáticos dos carros, das novidades e da tecnologia que se reúnem neste maravilhoso evento.

A amostra ocupará os pavilhões azul, verde, amarelo e ocre, mais um espaço ao ar livre do prédio. Entre as principais atrações se contarão a pista de 4x4, a pista de educação de via pública, uma exibição de carros antigos e clássicos, os carros do filme “Cars 2” e um grande número de atrações surpresa que prometem dar um atrativo especial para cada dia desta exibição.

EMERGING CITY FESTIVAL

From Thursday 16th until June 20th, a new edition of the Emerging City Festival (Ciudad Emergente) will take place in the Centro Cultural Recoleta (1930, Junín St.). Here, you can enjoy the best of the Buenos Aires young culture expressions for free. Among the many disciplines you will find are: music, photography, fashion, cinema, digital art, street dance, different exhibitions and stand up comedy.

In every space of the Cultural Center there will be something new to discover. From the basements and garages to the emblematic cultural center of our city, the subterranean culture and its codes emerge to renew the local art scene. Here is the future of art in a single place. There will be more than 50 music groups, including international guests (as Love of Lesbian from Spain, who will arrive especially for the opening of the Festival).

For this new edition, the Festival will set a stage in the terrace of the Center for the main shows. A second stage will be place on the Villa Villa room and a third one will be on the Cultural Center’s chapel. There will also be a microcinema where the films will be projected and a Digital Gallery, along with a lounge with magazines and a relaxed cool ambient. Avant-garde garments parades and street dance demonstrations will complete the offer.

This fourth edition will also have Paris as guest city -in the frame of the cultural exchange between Buenos Aires and the French capital. Three French music groups will join the musical offer. CONTRA O FRIO: CHOCOLATE COM CHURROS

Chega o frio para Buenos Aires e com ele a roupa de abrigo, os dias breves, os passeios rápidos e a ajuda indispensável das comidas e bebidas quentes. Entre elas, há um verdadeiro clássico do inverno portenho: o chocolate com churros. Herdado da tradição gastronômica espanhola, esta combinação é ideal para recuperar energias nos días frios. Hostel Colonial te conta de que se tratam e onde consegui-los.

Embora a tradição espanhola é de tomar como café-da-manhã na época invernal, na Argentina estão associados ao lanche, nas tardes. Uma combinação de chocolate (geralmente amargo) derretido em leite quente e essa massa crocante e doce que da forma e sabor aos churros. Ninguém sabe o momento exato no que se decidiu combinar estes dois elementos (alguns riscam que nos redores de 1920), mais todo mundo afirma que é uma mistura ideal.


Não só na mistura de sabores está a mágica, também na arte do seu consumo: embeber o churro no chocolate se encontra entre os máximos prazeres da vida. Quando terminar os churros (que solem ser três por pessoa), o chocolate restante na xícara se toma frio. Os churros podem estar frios ou quentes, segundo o que prefira cada comensal, e solem ter a forma particular que lhe dá cada lugar.

Em Buenos Aires, um dos lugares clássicos para provar o chocolate com churros, é a cafetaria La Giralda (Avenida Corrientes 1453). Também sobre a Avenida de Mayo, enclave da coletividade espanhola em Buenos Aires, vários cafés servem chocolate com churros, destacando o tradicional Café Tortoni. SANTOS DISCEPOLO PASSAGE

The square formed by the streets Corrientes, Lavalle, Callao and Riobamba is crossed by a traditional little street of Buenos Aires: the Enrique Santos Discepolo passage. Formerly known as Rauch Street, this passage was redesigned in 2005 and renamed after one of the greatest tango poets. The walk is a chance to approach a street full of history, which keeps an amazing architectural and cultural patrimony.

In this simple zigzagging passage you’ll find a number of attractions. Among those of architectural value are the Banco Mercantil Argentino building and one of the first schools of our city (the Number 9 school, 1884). There’s an old warehouse which housed the “Teatro del Picadero”, an avant-garde and provocative space of the Porteño underground scene, mysteriously burned by a fire 30 years ago.
The curious design of the passage won’t let you see the whole picture: a pronounced curve block the view of its extremes. This strange layout is due to the Oeste Railroad which made its way there many years ago. Through this tiny street passed “The Porteña”, the locomotive that made the first trip in Argentina, back in 1857. Today, fully renewed, the passage offers many bars (one of them with a cultural space which tributes Discepolo).

In front of the passage, in the corner of Callao Avenue and Lavalle Street you can visit the historic bar “Los Galgos”, where the poet spent many nights writing his verses. This famous bar also received outstanding tango figures –as the large accordionist Aníbal Troilo-; and politicians as the ex-President Arturo Frondizi. CONHECA A ARTE ARGENTINO ATUAL

Desde 10 de junho até 29 de agosto, o MALBA (Museu de Arte Latino-Americano) propõe ao público conhecer o melhor da arte argentino atual. São mais de 100 obras de 60 artistas argentinos contemporâneos que provem da própria coleção e que abarcam o período 1989-2010. Exibem-se pinturas, desenhos, fotografias, objetos, instalações e vídeos que dão conta da variedade na produção visual das últimas décadas.

A exibição propõe um recorrido pela cena artística dos últimos vinte anos na Argentina. Começa com a geração de artistas do Centro Cultural Rojas e do under de Buenos Aires dos oitenta. Continua com as gerações marcadas pelos espaços de formação que abriram lugares como o “Talher de Barracas” e as “Becas Kuitca”, desde 1991 até hoje. E chega finalmente à cena mais recente.

O objetivo da exibição é amostrar um panorama completo da arte argentino atual, partindo das obras da Coleção do Malba: “são peças e objetos artísticos para poder lhe oferecer ao público a maior variedade possível de relatos sobre a arte latino-americano dos últimos cem anos”, explicou Marcelo Pacheco, curador em chefe do Malba. Junto à exibição, se editou um catálogo bilíngue (espanhol-inglês) de 148 folhas com todas as obras e informação.

Entre os artistas que poderá encontra na exibição se encontram: Liliana Maresca, Feliciano Centurión, Gumier Maier, Sergio Avello, Alberto Goldenstein, Daniel Ontiveros, Mónica Girón, Román Vitali, Marina de Caro, Nicola Costantino, Fernanda Laguna, Marcos López, Cristina Schiavi, Magdalena Jitrik, Guillermo Ueno, Manuel Esnoz, Tomás Espina, Flavia Da Rin, Diego Bianchi, Guillermo Faivovich e Matías Duville, entre muitos outros.

SAN CRISTOBAL NEIGHBORHOOD ANNIVERSARY

This June, our traditional San Cristóbal neighborhood celebrates its anniversary. Founded on 1869, the place has been a scenario of historical events for 142 years. Its first and main construction was the San Cristóbal Church (naming the neighborhood), soon surrounded by country houses and farms. Nowadays, buildings and houses fill this place near Downtown Buenos Aires.

The neighborhood is delimited by the Avenues Independencia, Entre Ríos, Juan de Garay and Sánchez de Loria Street. San Cristobal is a place where different communities converge with notable bars and popular cinemas (as the “Select” in San Juan Avenue). It is also one of the tango-related neighborhoods; Gardel was born here as well as some other tango poets and singers.



Among its curiosities is that of being the smallest neighborhood of our city (just 125 squares). It is crossed by the “25 de Mayo Highway” and it’s a place for religious pluralism as it houses temples of the four main creeds (Catholic, Hebrew, Muslim and Budist).

Among the outstanding spots you may visit are: the “San Cristóbal Church”, neo gothic styled (1241 Jujuy Avenue), the “Water Deposit Historical Building” (1441 Entre Ríos Avenue), the “Great Mesquite” (3053 San Juan Avenue), the “Miramar Bar” where great figures of tango as Gardel or Canaro used to share their evenings (1999 San Juan Avenue) and the “House of poet and writer Homero Manzi” (Juan de Garay Avenue and Danel Street).

A RECOVA DE BELGRANO

O amplo bairro de Belgrano tem muitas zonas residenciais e outras tantas de passeio. Uma das esquinas mais representativas do bairro é o cruzamento das avenidas Cabildo e Juramento. Perto daí, se encontra a parte mais antiga do bairro e um dos seus passeios mais bonitos: a Recova. Ali você encontrará um conjunto de praças, uma igreja tradicional e os melhores bares e restaurantes.

No cruzamento das ruas Juramento e Vuelta de Obligado, se encontra este passeio quase tão antigo como nossa cidade. A Praça Belgrano lhe dá marco aos dois edifícios principais: a Igreja da Imaculada Conceição (popularmente chamada de “A redonda”) e a recova de uma antiga casa colonial que pertence ao vicariato da Igreja Católica. Justamente nesta recova, tem se instalado alguns bares e restaurantes.



A Igreja –inaugurada em 1878- é única em Buenos Aires pelo desenho circular, de estilo greco-romano. A Recova, que se encontra ao costado, é o nome que recebe um tipo de construção que se fazia na parte das casas coloniais que se vê desde a rua. A mesma está caraterizada por um teto sustenido por paredes com arcos (aonde costumavam se estabelecer os feirantes da época).

Junto à paróquia, se encontra também o Museu Sarmiento. Na área, há outras opções para recorrer e conhecer. A 400 metros se encontras a Barrancas de Belgrano, um espetacular complexo de parques. Só uma quadra dali, na mencionada esquina de Cabildo e Juramento, se encontra um dos maiores e completos passeios comerciais de Buenos Aires (ideal para fazer compras).

REOPENING OF THE FLEA MARKET

A classic fair of Buenos Aires City gets its splendor back: the Old Flea Market reopens. After 5 years of a postponed renewal of the place, the greatest antiques and cult objects fair of our city will reopen in a few weeks. The Market is back in the same warehouse where it worked since 1988 until 2006, on Dorrego Avenue, in the limit of Palermo and Colegiales neighborhoods.

The 143 entitled market vendors (who are nowadays working in a warehouse next door) will receive the people with a wide variety of collectable objects, unique and original pieces which attract the vintage fashion lovers and those who love these truly priceless objects. The new spot has better safety measures (a fire preventive system, evacuation drafts, among others).



In the corner of Dorrego Avenue and Conde Street, you will get antiques, used modern objects, furniture and special pieces of different decades of the XX Century, clothing, ornamental objects, books, keys, small presents and memories from the past that might even move the nostalgic. It’s not just a walk; the Old Flea Market is more like a trip to the recent (and not so recent) past of our lives.
